This soap has the most wonderful sensual smell in the entire world. It lathers perfectly, has a gentle effect, and leaves your skin smooth as silk. For good measure I keep a bar in my shower and next to my sink so that when I'm having a bad day, I just lather my troubles away!

I use this soap every time I shower. The lather is so rich and the fragrance is beautiful. Femine but not girly, floral yet clean, it's the most artful fragrance I own. It really does make me think of Grace Kelly! LUSH, please make a purfume inspired by this soap!

This is a lovely, creamy soap with a gorgeous lather. I thought it would smell stronger than it did. I picked it up at the shop. But what there is of fragrance is pleasant. However, I can smell the coconut oil and soap smell. So it was mild for me. Disappointed in the lack of fragrance at first, I still find this soap appealing.

Out of all the Lush soaps I've tried, I think that Alkmaar is my top favorite. I love Rock Star too but this one's sort of "all grown up", the scent isn't as overpowering but I sort of wish it could be because it's a sexy and mysterious scent that goes on so smooth and lathers beautifully. I had a sample then just had to get a full-size bar because I loved it so much! I also like that it's named after a city of cheeses! It may look a bit like a fancy white cheese, but it sure don't smell like it :)

Me and my husband got this soap as our first time purchase from Lush. As a bar, you get a really good idea of what the scent is. It's not heavy or thick it's very delicate. In use, it doesn't seem like you're getting any fragrance on yourself til after you are out of the shower. It left my skin feeling nice and smooth, on him it made him kind of velvety. No complaints here. ;] It's a nice breezy clean smell and I use it with my Hottie bar, great combo!

I love the smell of Silky Underwear dusting powder and this is exactly that in a soap. Wonderful creamy soap which makes your skin feel fantastic!

I love Alkmaar and it is my favorite Lush product ever. It is a staple in my collection and I am sad when I am without it. It is so creamy and moisturizing, which is a must when using soap on my super dry skin. Because of the creaminess factor, it doesn't last as long as I'd like. The smell, to me, is incredible. I don't like jasmine smelling things. This doesn't smell like jasmine really. It's hard to say what this smells like...it just smells like pure awesome. Pure creamy, delicious awesomeness that I never want to be without!

The lather is great, and it doesn't dry my skin . . . but the smell is just kind of meh. I wish it smelled more like jasmine, but it just kind of has a soapy smell that I am not in love with. Overall, it is a very effective soap, just not as girly as I would like it to be, I guess. :D

The first time I used this it smelled excatly like cheap whiskey. It was moisturizing and when I left the shower my skin was not dried out at all, like normal. It might be a good soap for someone who wants a more musky/ whishey smell.

I LOVE Lush's products, but solid soap often leaves behind a residue in really hard water. Alkmaar seems to have less residue problems than other solid soaps. If combined with an unscented moisturizing body wash it actually washes clean AND I still smell wonderful. With the softness of this soap, I seem to go through it fairly quickly (though this may be due to slathering as much as possible on my skin). So far, this is, hands down, my favourite soap ever.

I was looking for something creamy and lightly scented when the saleswoman recommended this. It smelled great and she assured me it would be super moisturizing. While the smell is great, it doesn't last very long. The saleswoman told me the smell would fill me whole bathroom and last all day...not so much. Also while the lather is thick and creamy in the shower, my skin started to dry out and I found myself using more moisturizer than normal. I think this could be an awesome product with just a few small changes.
